ROMAR Safety System Reaches Milestone

SCT

Aberdeenshire-based oilfield service company ROMAR International has announced the 80th sale of its Packer Management System (PMS).

Securing the 80th sale of the product within four years of the company introducing it to the market is a significant achievement in the company’s history. The product is now used on 80 rigs globally including South America, South East Asia, Norway and Australasia.
ROMAR’s core business is in the provision of magnetic separation products and services for the offshore oil and gas industry, but the company has also developed a number of complementary technologies associated with drilling fluids management.
PMS was designed and built by ROMAR in-house in response to a specific gap in the mobile rig market for an early-warning mud spill preventer system.
Due to continuous market research, the system has been further developed into an automated diagnostic and intervention unit, which provides an early warning to rig staff of a potential mud spillage into the environment. The system also captures a full data history, similar in concept to an aircraft black box.
The company has witnessed annual sales revenue for PMS more than doubling in recent years. In 2009, the total sales revenue was around £350,000 where as sales for this year are on track to be in excess of £750,000 by the year end.
Robbie Gray, commercial director, ROMAR International, said: “Reaching the total sales target of 80 PMS products this year is a big achievement for ROMAR. The company has experienced rapid growth and strong financial figures throughout 2012 and reaching this milestone sale has been a key part of ROMAR’s business growth.
“There have been a number of well publicised spillages into the environment in recent years which has led to significant consequences for organisations involved. It is increasingly important for the oil and gas industry to prevent environmental damage and for this reason ROMAR’s PMS system is quickly becoming the system of choice for many major oil and gas operators. We continue to see a high demand for the PMS system and we will continue to modify the technology in line with customer and industry requirements.”
ROMAR also continues to experience significant business growth across its range of magnetic separation products, which are designed to remove metal contaminants from all forms of drilling fluids.
