IHC Motion Control’s Integrated Heave Compensator turns vessel cranes equipped with an A&R winch into the equivalent of a high-spec AHC offshore crane, suitable for deepwater subsea installation of heavy modules in dynamic sea sates.
The Integrated Heave Compensator is suitable for temporary, newly-built and retrofitted hoisting systems. The innovative design is the embodiment of a compact, containerised concept that can be easily integrated into existing lifting applications and fitted above or below deck. The hybrid concept unites a passive and active heave compensator in one system, combining the accuracy of an active system, with the energy efficiency of a passive system.
The passive part balances the pressure of the hydraulic oil and nitrogen gas with the force of the payload while the dynamic part of the heave compensator controls the position of the cylinder depending on the motion of the crane or vessel. The Integrated Heave Compensator control software isstate-of-the-art and is specially designed for offshore lifting operations. It supports several different operational modes, including position control, empty hook and constant tension.
