New Nordhavn 76 shipped to British owner
Luxury trawler yacht specialist, Nordhavn Europe, is looking forward to seeing a loyal customer take delivery of a new Nordhavn 76 which departed the Ta Shing factory in Taiwan last week. However, it won’t be heading straight for UK shores as its British owners will be meeting it at Long Beach, CA, taking the opportunity to cruise the West Coast of America in their new vessel.
From its Taiwan and China factories, Nordhavn can deliver its boats to anywhere in the world, so it is surprisingly common for customers to ship it to a location that they might not ever cruise again and then drive it on to wherever they please. After all, every full displacement Nordhavn model can reach any spot on the globe under its own power.
This particular Nordhavn 76 (hull #21 of that series, the 511th Nordhavn to be produced) is also somewhat rare. When most people who follow Nordhavn think of the N76, what typically comes to mind is the classic aft pilot house expedition model. Even some of the most avid Nordhavn aficionados are not aware that the N76 is available in a forward pilot house configuration.
However, the couple who are buying the N76 #21 currently own a Nordhavn 64, which is also a forward pilot house design. They love everything about their N64 but were looking for more room and the satisfaction and pleasure of building a new boat. They simply wanted to replicate the look, style and build quality in a bigger and roomier boat. Essentially, what they wanted was a bigger FPH Nordhavn 64, so the FPH Nordhavn 76 was an obvious solution and one that could easily be accommodated.
Another British owned forward pilothouse N76 is the Spirit of Ulysses, which just happens to be on show at the Southampton Boat Show next month – the largest Nordhavn model ever to be displayed at a European show.
