New heavy lift ship Thor in Port of Oostende

The Port of Oostende welcomed the jack up vessel Thor for the first time. The next 3 months the ship Thor will be used to conduct general maintenance on the C-Power wind farm from the Rebo terminal.

Since a few weeks, the seasonal maintenance works on the three operational wind farms (C-Power, Belwind and Northwind) have started. Besides the large installation ships that regularly enter the port of Oostende, there are also daily sailings of smaller maintenance ships. From mid-February till now the Port of Oostende counted 247 sailings of service vessels.

These activities are the result of the further development of the ‘blue energy business’ in Oostende. The service provided to the offshore wind industry has become the main activity for the port of Oostende. From the Rebo terminal in the Port of Oostende, the windfarms Northwind (72 wind turbines), Belwind (56 wind turbines) and C-Power (54 wind turbines) are managed and maintained. These parks have an installed capacity of 712 MW. The continuous operation of these parks offers 200 permanent jobs.
