Jan De Nul Group Carries Out Third of All Works at Suez Canal

DSC03762-kopieOn 6 August 2015 the new Suez Canal in Egypt was officially opened – a project for which Jan De Nul Group realised one third of all works. The project was a challenge because of its size but above all because of the very tight deadline. To complete such a project in less than twelve months is unprecedented. In less than one year, about 250 million cubic metres had to be dredged and Jan De Nul Group took care of one third of it. In all, six dredging companies participated in the project divided over two joint ventures. Jan De Nul Group mobilised seven cutter suction dredgers with a total installed diesel power of 134,720 kW.
Some 2,000 people were employed, half of them local and the other half European.
