Ronald Lugthart Port Personality of the Year
Ronald Lugthart, Managing Director of Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG), has been unanimously elected as Port Personality of the Year 2015 by the Stichting Havenman van het Jaar.
Mr Lugthart has won the award because of his successful guidance of the establishment of the container terminal at the Maasvlakte II this year. With RWG, the Port of Rotterdam has at its disposal one the most advanced and innovative container terminals worldwide. Ronald Lugthart has steered this most complex organisational and technological project in the right direction
Mr Lugthart is the 35th port entrepreneur in a row to receive this distinction, which was established by the former Port of Rotterdam press club, Kyoto, in 1981. He will follow in the footsteps of Harold Linssen van Keppel Verolme, who is at the moment still active as Port Man of the Year for 2014.
The Rotterdam-born Ronald Lugthart studied accounting, and after following an initial career in consultancy, he found his way to the port of Rotterdam in the early 90s. After being employed by the Matrans Group, Steinweg and Uniport, he was approached by DP World in 2011 about an opportunity to establish a profile for RWG on behalf of its shareholders.
