PEMA Reaches 100 Members
The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) has recently welcomed Merford Cabins as its 100th member company. The historic milestone was reached in March, less than 12 years after the Association was first conceived by five founding members as a neutral voice and forum for suppliers of port crane and handling equipment. A change to the Constitution in 2008 also opened the door to membership from technology providers and consulting companies, since which time the Association has grown year-on-year in scale and scope. PEMA now represents a broad cross-section of companies active worldwide in the design, supply and implementation of equipment, systems and technology to support the growing demands of modern port and terminal operations.
Following a record-breaking year in 2015, when 20 companies joined the Association, 2016 has so far seen the addition of six further new members – Alimak Hek, CLC Technology Enterprise Co Ltd, EMG Automation GmbH, Merford Cabins, Rice Lake Weighing Systems and Royal Haskoning DHV.
Alimak Hek offer vertical access solutions to customers in the ports, construction and other industries. The company’s Alimak, Champion, Heis-Tek and Hek brands cover hoists, elevators and platforms for both temporary and permanent installations.
CLC Group was founded in 1978 in Taiwan and today is a diversified international trading agent, R&D, manufacturing and sales group. The company supplies LED lighting to the ports and terminal industries.
Established in 1946 in Wenden, Germany as part of the Elexis Group, EMG Automation GmbH has more than 1,300 employees, 25 subsidiaries and 50 partners worldwide. The company designs and manufactures drive systems for industrial brakes used in demanding applications including ports, steel, metallurgy, mining and raw materials extraction.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, The Merford Group is focused on improving the health, safety and comfort of the working environment. The company’s product range includes ergonomic cabins for cranes, vessels and vehicles; noise mitigating solutions for the individual up to large-scale industrial projects and special doors.
Since designing the UK’s first purpose-built container terminal in 1967 Royal Haskoning DHV has become a global leader in container terminal design and planning, working in over 100 countries on assignments ranging from small-scale developments to mega-hub ports. Its services cover the full spectrum of activities from market analysis and terminal operations evaluation through to planning, detailed engineering design, construction management and supervision on site.
Rice Lake Weighing Systems is an international manufacturer and distributor of weight-related products and process-control equipment, including solutions for compliance with the new IMO SOLAS regulations on verification of container weights.
