Besenzoni Wins Dame Design Award 2017
At the Dame Design Award 2017 ceremony held at Metstrade in the RAI Amsterdam Exhibition Centre, the Besenzoni P400 Matrix helm seat won the marine industry’s most prestigious prize: the Dame Design Award 2017. The award was granted in the category ‘Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins’.
The Dame 2017 jury examined 122 entries from 22 countries, nominating 66 products for the second round of judging. Only these products were eligible to win the Dame Design Award prize. When choosing the winners of seven categories, as well as the overall winner, the jury considered several factors, including design, construction quality, overall impact on marine industry, fitness for purpose, level of innovation, cost effectiveness and environmental impact.
The jury chose the P400 Matrix helm seat as the winner for the following reason: “Sitting in the P400 Matrix helm seat left no doubt that the attention given to the design of the seat and lumbar supports, as well as the adjustable head, arm and foot rests, make it an excellent helm seat suitable for long nights in the bridge of a vessel at sea. The jury members also admired the aesthetics of the seat, making it a unanimous winner in this category.”
