Decom North Sea Reveals Finalists for Inaugural Decommissioning Awards

Decom North SeaDecom North Sea recently announced its finalists for the first industry awards dedicated to decommissioning.

“As the only membership organisation dedicated to decommissioning, it is a pleasure to highlight the pioneering work performed in the sector through the first Decom North Sea Awards. The quality of the award entries we received is testament to this, with some fantastic examples of true innovation, collaboration, and hard work,” comments Mr Tom Leeson, Interim Chief Executive at Decom North Sea. Winners of a Decom North Sea Award will be announced at the Decom North Sea Awards Dinner, which will take place on the Tuesday 22 May, 2018 (the evening before Decom Offshore 2018) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The 2018 Decom North Sea Awards finalists are:

  • Outstanding Innovation, sponsored by The Oil & Gas Technology Centre: BiSN; Power Towers.
  • Excellence in Collaboration, sponsored by Port of Cromarty Firth: NS Decom (NorSea Group and Scotoil Services); PDi Ltd, Maersk Oil UK a company of Total and Maersk Supply Service (MSS); Veolia-Peterson.
  • Contribution to Decom North Sea: To be announced at the Decom North Sea Awards Dinner.

The inaugural awards dinner is set to be an excellent networking opportunity with an expected 150+ delegates in attendance to acknowledge the success stories of industry peers. The evening will be hosted by one of Scotland’s best-known newsreaders and currently, the main female anchor for STV North, Andrea Brymer. Furthermore, the after-dinner speaker has been confirmed as Mr Bjørn-Evert van Eck Rasmussen, Managing Director of Mammoet Norge A/S. He will provide insight into how Mammoet constructed and installed the safe confinement over the reactor building of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.
