Balk Shipyard to Showcase Latest Refit Work
At the Monaco Yacht Show, Balk Shipyard will show her latest refit work and tell you all you want to hear about the projects and plans for the near future. The three projects that will be shown are SY Copihue, MY Dancing Hare and MY Unexpected.
SY Copihue’s refit consisted out of complete new teak decks and cap rails. After sandblasting the hull below and above the waterline we fully painted this hull and underwater ship, also we overhauled the engine room with a new Perkins main engine as well as a new generator with bigger capacity. A full paint job on the mast and boom was performed and all standing and running rigging have been overhauled.
The refit of the iconic motor yacht Dancing Hare – before known as Lady Aida, Lady Ghislaine and most recently Lady Mona K.– has been a really challenging one. MY Dancing Hare’s interior has been redesigned by stylists and architects. There has been taken care of almost every single room. Besides that, all technical installations and equipment have been completely overhauled and are now fully up to date to the latest high-tech standards. To give you an example: the complete galley has been removed and all the equipment has been replaced. Also the bridge is new; it has been entirely stripped down. Together with the bridge console and the seating group it had a makeover. Besides that, the navcom is renewed. On top of that, the engine room is partly overhauled. In regards to the exterior the complete main and main aft deck are redesigned. Other features like underwater lights and sliding glass panels are also a special part of this remarkable refit.
MY Unexpected (ex. Alumercia) was recently sold as a result of joint efforts between Balk Shipyard and Edmiston. The owner of MY Unexpected and Balk Shipyard have a valued relationship for already quite some time since the owner had a project refitted at Balk Shipyard a few years ago. The purpose of the refit of MY Unexpected is to being able to sail safely around the world. The owners also wanted to give MY Unexpected a more personal touch. Therefore, the complete interior is going to be redesigned. Not only the interior will be given a whole new look also the engine room will be stripped and overhauled and all the electric equipment will be upgraded to the latest standards in yacht building. The original naval architect, Vripack, is again involved in this project.

An event with this typical Dutch snacks such as herring and cheese. All products are freshly served since they will be flown in especially for this occasion to guarantee you the best Dutch herring.
