Peterson Offshore Passenger Terminal Celebrates 100th Flight

3 January 2019 saw the 100th flight take off from Peterson Offshore Passenger Terminal at PetersonZeeland Airport. This exciting new activity for the region began earlier in 2018 when helicopter operator NHV was awarded the contract for supporting Van Oord’s East Anglia One project, with Peterson providing expertise on helicopter terminal management.

Due to the positive mindset and collaboration between NHV, Zeeland Airport, Van Oord, Peterson and all the other stakeholders the first flight was safely executed on 24 April, 2018. Crew changes to the project vessels are done on a weekly basis meaning people from all over the world are gathered by the Van Oord crewing department at the Peterson Offshore Passenger Terminal. From there the crew are flown on an Airbus H155 helicopter from NHV to one of the project vessels, Bokalift 1 and Olympic Taurus.

Passengers are prepared and checked according to the industry safety standard prior to their flights by local partners Ovet Shipping, Delta Safe Security and Peterson. “While NHV’s primary mission is to provide a safe, secure and efficient flight, we also find it important to provide our passengers with a pleasurable experience before and after their flight. In Zeeland Airport and Peterson, we have found strong partners with a similar mind-set. NHV is happy to celebrate this milestone together with them”, says NHV’s base manager Caspar Westerman.

Zeeland Airport, NHV and Peterson have built a strong partnership that has allowed the passenger terminal to successfully support the East Anglia One project and is ready to continue to support operations, maintenance and new projects in the area, such as the Borssele offshore windfarms.
