Dancing Hare Nominated for World Superyachts Award 2019

Dancing HareBalk Shipyard has been nominated for the World Superyacht Awards 2019. The judging panel was very impressed by the company’s, and they were delighted to announce that Balk is successful in becoming a nominee for the Awards in the category Rebuilt/Refit/ Conversion Yachts with MY Dancing Hare.

In October of last year Dancing Hare arrived at Balk shipyard for an extensive refit. KK Superyachts decided to engage for the refit of the 57m yacht. At that time she was still called Lady Mona K. Like any other refit this one was also a really challenging one. Of course any refit is a testament to the owners’ love of their yacht and their determination to enjoy her to the max.

Often difficult, always an art, a good refit maintains whatever it was that made the original irreplaceable and then gives it a new spirit. Dancing Hare’s entire interior has been refreshed. And all technical installations and equipment have been completely overhauled and are fully up to date to the latest standards. One of the wishes of the owners was getting a better atmosphere while sitting on the bridge deck. To satisfy the owners Balk decided, in consultation, to install glass panels around this deck. Besides the renewed bridge deck, the already spacious sundeck on top of that has been lengthened with 4m. The main deck is reorganised and is now one big spatial area.

All these modifications provide a much better ambiance. “MY Dancing Hare has always been an iconic and revolutionary yacht by the time when she was launched in 1986, that is why I felt (and still feel) honoured and proud to have the chance to get the opportunity to show what Balk shipyard is capable of. To be selected and trusted to get her back in her finest shape possible and that we have succeeded. And now I am even more proud that we have been nominated, she deserves it..!”, Daan Balk, CEO of Balk Shipyard states.

The World Superyacht Awards will take place in London from 16 – 18 May 2019.
