Energy transition to take centre stage at SPE Offshore Europe

SPE Offshore EuropeThe announcement that SPE Offshore Europe’s face-to-face event has moved to 1-4 February 2022 at P&J Live, Aberdeen and that the conference will run virtually from 7-10 September 2021 hasn’t changed the theme of the biennial show – ‘Oil & Gas: Working Together for a Net Zero Future’.

It’s been nearly two years since SPE Offshore Europe last opened its doors to tens of thousands of delegates in Aberdeen. Though the world’s governments, societies and economies have had to radically transform to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic since then, the urgency to accelerate the energy transition by investing in cleaner, low-carbon energy production has not been sidelined. Despite the challenges ahead, there is a sizable and growing prize for those willing to work and think differently; to challenge traditional approaches, forge new working relationships, and to be braver, bolder and better.

This topic is one of the keynote programme sessions that will be held virtually in September alongside an opening ceremony, plenary panel and technical sessions. Topics will include transitioning to lower carbon solutions, oil and gas security of supply, workforce engagement and skills, digitalisation and future collaboration models for the industry. Taking place just eight weeks before COP26 in Glasgow, the SPE Offshore Europe Virtual Conference is a ‘curtain opener’ to critical energy talks and the platform for the energy industry to stimulate action.

With further high-level energy transition content being included at the live event from 1-4 February 2022, SPE Offshore Europe will straddle COP26, offering a unique opportunity to raise the profile of successful collaborative behaviours and tackle the barriers and challenges that can limit success. The live event will include a socially distanced exhibition, new energy transition keynote conference content, show floor features including Energy Transition Zone and Theatre, Decommissioning Theatre, a TIDE (talent investment & diversity) programme and networking SPE Offshore Europe
