Alewijnse Refits Patrol Vessels
Alewijnse Marine Systems recently received a double order by De Haas Yards in Maassluis, the Netherlands, for a complete refit of two patrol vessels for the Port of Rotterdam Authority. For both the RPA 14 and the seagoing patrol vessel RPA 15 most elements of the electrical installation will be renewed, including the automation of the fire fighting systems. With these projects Alewijnse states her expertise as system integrator for the refit market. The refit concerns a modification of almost 75% of the electrical system, including the cabling. Alewijnse will take care of supervision on site and provide engineering, installation and delivery of amongst others the alarm, monitoring and control system, lighting installation, navigation equipment and wheelhouse, distribution systems and automation of the fire detection installation.
As part of the refit expertise, Alewijnse strives for quick delivery terms and cooperating with the client in an early stage. This is essential for a successful integration of older and new technical systems. In a unique approach, the wheelhouse will be removed as a start, after which the new wheelhouse can be easily installed. The refit of the RPA 14 has just started and the vessel will be delivered in November 2009, immediately followed by the refit of the RPA 15, a seagoing patrol vessel that will be at the De Haas Yard until May 2010. Alewijnse Marine Systems got this order as preferred vendor for Port of Rotterdam. Aad de Kraauw from Port of Rotterdam explains: “Alewijnse is maintaining already for a long time most of the vessels for Port of Rotterdam. Out of this relationship, combined with of course their expertise in system integration and complex refits, Alewijnse was a logical choice for these projects’.
