Ultra Maritime Launches Nano-Technology

UM_Kitty_Petra_mUltra Maritime comes to Seawork International with the first introduction of nano-technology for the commercial maritime industry.

Ultra Maritime has a range of advanced protective coatings for all surfaces used in the marine industry: GRP, aluminium, carbon fibre, stainless steel, wood and glass. These exceptional products are designed to keep surfaces cleaner for longer, protected from UV, saltwater, algae and other attacks which can corrode and degrade substrates. The result is less maintenance, less time out of service and the vessel remaining in good condition for far longer.

The first commercial vessel to be treated with Ultra Maritime coatings is the Personal Transport Vessel (PTV) Kitty Petra, a new 20m offshore wind farm service craft which will operate in harsh off-shore conditions for long periods. Kitty Petra joins the Tidal Transit fleet, and can be viewed on the jetty opposite Hall C on Berth V34 at Seawork. The corrosion saving properties of Ultra Maritime products will keep Kitty Petra in full operating condition with far less maintenance than untreated vessels.

There are currently four main products; Ultra Maritime Protector, Ultra Maritime Wood, Ultra Maritime Metal 2 in 1 and Ultra Maritime Glass, protecting all aspects of a hull superstructure, decking, glazing and equipment. Applied professionally by Ultra Maritime’s team of applicators, the invisible and colourless coating is high impact resistant.

On application, nano-particles enter the microscopic natural pores and capillaries of the surface, molecularly bonding to the substrate to create a highly protective coating. A surface coated with Ultra Maritime products is considerably easier to clean, and its colour does not degrade from UV or saltwater attack.

Metals are protected from corrosion while teak repels water and dirt which simply washes away. Used on glass windscreens it negates the use of wipers when travelling at speed. The benefits are considerable savings in cleaning, less time out of service and reduced maintenance costs.

Ultra Maritime products create a barrier to corrosion, are UV stable, hydrophobic, tough and have longevity against the hostile marine environment for many years. They are suitable for all vessels including commercial, military, luxury, and for marine infrastructure such as marinas, jetties, pontoons and marker buoys – surface and subsea.

The Ultra Maritime team will be at Seawork International, Stand C99, 10–12 June 2014.
