untitled2

Global offshore accommodation specialist HB Rentals has delivered a specially-modified safe area sleeping quarters to Seabird Exploration’s operations in Angola, on a three-year contract.

HB Rentals prepared and delivered the eight-man solution to West Africa with only 10 days notice, shipping from its Aberdeen base via Las Palmas Port, the deal which is worth more than GBP £160,000 (USD $260,000).

The 32ft x 11ft A60-rated and DNV 2.7-1 safe-area certified cabin was modified to form two four-man berths, including vacuum toilet facilities and was also equipped with European electrical points, for use on the M/V Hugin Explorer.

HB Rentals has more than doubled the size of its office and manufacturing base at Howe Moss Drive at Dyce, Aberdeen in the last year as it responds to rising demand throughout the UKCS, Caspian, Africa and Middle East.

Managing director, George Emslie, said: “This contract is a perfect illustration of the worldwide nature of our operation – key members of our team in the Middle East and Aberdeen worked closely to ensure we could deliver on schedule. Following initial contact in the Middle East, the specialist outfitting and installation team at our Aberdeen hub, where we have a fleet of some 400 cabins, carried out the bespoke fitting work needed by Seabird and readied the cabin for shipping. Seabird will have access to our continued support throughout the three-year contract, including commissioning and maintenance technicians and engineers, to ensure the module continues to meet their requirements.”

HB Rentals’ cabins provide staff with safe-area working conditions and can be configured for almost any kind of use – from equipment room to laboratory, workstation, office facilities and even a galley.

The firm provides full certification, modification and on-site installation and hook-up services, as well as ongoing maintenance support for its modules throughout the region.
